jib,
you said the trainer couldnt get his hcap mark down by running in ireland, but it did come down 4lb while it was racing there,i agree it was probably for his poor runs before ireland, but i think the handicapper must take a view of foreign races.
otherwise how would foreign horses have a handicap mark when running in this country,eg,barney curley gets a lot of german imports, they must view the races to give them a mark?

Greg,

The last time I enquired I was assured that ONLY UK races were used in calculating a horses OR.

I shall email the OH to see if there has been a policy change.

A foreign horse can be entered for top class UK non hcps, there is no need for an OR, only the entry fee. After a win or three losing runs the foreign horse will aquire a BHB OR and then be eligible for UK hcps as well.

I'm glad you put that 2p2,And this is where people get into trouble with vdw,The horse was one of the probables not neccesarily from the 3 most cons,But the horse had CONSISTENT FORM the way vdw saw things,But unfortunately john you don't have the writings or the form books so you will never understand the reasoning behind it.I didn't play in either race but the winners of both the races would have been trapped.
