Barney.

I agree the Top Speed man changed at the beginning of the year. I think you will find his standard times although faster, are not the course records.

Why do you think it is easier for me? I always being told I'm doing it all wrong! As a matter of interest who do you make the c/form horses in the 1:45 and the 2:15 at Newmarket? This is not a trick question I am genuinely interested.

Guest,

Wonder if you could answer the same question? Well, done with the 14/1 winner, but it does puzzle me slightly.

Be Lucky

Dont know if determined named lingo as one to watch in future or not but he`s certainly one to keep on the right side, he`s the type jack & lynda do well with, put it down to guesswork, experience?, it matters not!, he will win his share under both codes if staying sound, another top-cees maybe?.

why does defining puzzle you its the same as clarinch claymore.

I had solo flight c/f and rosa parks but RP no chance as through other posts, if i had been more experienced i would have discounted that as well, for the winner. but you live and learn.

Mtoto - I made Solo Flight the class/form horse in the 1.45 and if I had been awake I wouldn't have discarded the class/form horse Salim Toto in the 2.15.

As it happens I was only able to make two books with Defining 14/1,Bourgeios 16/1 and Solo Flight 16/1 in the 1.45 and Seven No trumps 9/1 and Artie 6/1 in the 3.25.

contract- was a good un untill firm arrived stout can get them ready fto.

fearby cross- looks well ready for seven, plenty of gas in his tank,

and then there are those that have been there like yours, nose the trade and deceitful.

the only thing I can come up with at newmarket is bahamian pirate lay of the day.

Have a look at Craic Sa Ceili, 1.15N, I know he's going up in class, but the rate he's improving at , this is well within his compass.
Good luck.

Another busy day betwise. At Newmarket Orientor looks a good thing in the 3.25. Earlier on in the 1.45 I'll be making a 3 horse book with Nashaab,Champion Lodge and Faithful warrior.

Another book to be made later in the 4.00 with 4 horses price permitting in the shape of Nose The Trade,Pablo,Al Aali and Lord Protector.

Two horses away from Newmarket that look good bets are Oriental Empress 3.15 Redcar and Brooklyns Gold 5.10 Hereford.

Have a good all.

A real VDW class/form horse seems to be Millennium Force in the 4.00 at Newmarket. Here we have a horse top rated on ability, dropped in class after winning last time, and top on consistency. Add to that the fact that he runs well in big fields(and the bigger price covers the size of the field anyway), going should make little difference and the distance is right.

Barney.

I assume you are asking about the 2:50 Newmarket. I make the c/form horse One Last Time, this is purely on the mathematical platform. Nothing to do with jockey bookings, etc.

In making it the c/form horse, that is a long way from making it a bet. I haven't had a bet in a 2 year old race this year, and this would not be the place to start.

If your brave enough to try this race, be VERY, VERY lucky

On Ability rating Millennium Force has a clear advantage over his field, 174 to next best 122. On consistency he scores best of those in the first 5 or equals in the betting, and on last time class he's equal top of those equal fifth or better in the betting. His OR and Postmark show steady progression.
Yes it's a big field, but if it were a 10-runner field I'd be happy with 3/1, so 10/1 in a 30-runner would be more than acceptable. In view of the price, the likelihood is that he will lose(that's the nature of the odds), BUT I think he is a sound value bet!

In agreement with Guest, I feel Brooklyn’s Gold has an outstanding chance at Hereford and will be getting involved there. At Newmarket the fields are generally too large, and competitive for me to get involved. One race that I have looked at is the 3.25 but have no strong opinion other than I have Bahamian Pirate top rated, Orientor 2nd, and Needwood Blade/Acclamation joint 3rd. I won’t be betting today at Newmarket though.

Good luck to today everyone.

Well done, 3 winners, and all at good prices, an excellent example to all of us.
I think I am begining to follow your reasoning on a lot of your selections, but I am totally mystified, even after the race, as to why you did not have Millenium Force down for consideration. Is it possible for you to enlarge on this?

Chaz,
Well done today, it's always nice to see a horse you have backed with its race won so far out.
I found your posting today very illuminating, and hope we hear more from you soon.

Barney
I very nearly was " A better man than you are" today, will have to keep grinding away. Incidentally, as you mentioned your missus the other day, does she ever see the FRONT of your head?

Luck to all.

Well done Guest. Credit where credit is due. Can't fault you with those very good picks.
Credit also to Chaz who seconded Brooklyn's Gold.

I agree with Rob North and thought MILLENNIUM FORCE was a decent bet,
Cheers

JohnD/Barney/Swish - Thanks for the well dones. I did make one error today, but I'm not going to go into it else you might think I'm being greedy wink

JohnD- Millenium Force undoubtedly had the ability, but when you look at how he had been placed recently it seemed very likely the job was done last time and the handicapper took note to boot. His last 3 runs were all with low weights, though in the past he has won with bigger weights against lower class.

In my post race analysis I can see that Al Aali didn't have it in the book to warrant inclusion really and to a certain extent neither did Nose The Trade, but when those sort of prices are on offer it doesn't hurt to be extra careful.
