I’ve got R.S.B. if you want form figure combination win percent. I’ll gladly put them up for you but there are a lot of permutations so it would help if you could be a bit more specific if you need them. The same goes for Fulham and the novice events.If you want the info and know which variables you want to include then I’ll run it , no problem.

I’ve seen people say before that VDW’s combinations such as 3-3-3= 99% is a load of rubbish and that he didn’t understand probability. I’m not having that for a minute. Someone as intelligent and logical as he obviously was and he makes a hash of basic probability that even I can understand? No way baby.

The man himself said that he never wrote anything just for the sake of it. So what was he getting at? This is just theory but I’ve always assumed he meant when we have 3 horses in the field with the right attributes and good consistency figures then the chances of anything improving from the field to beat them is very slim. Or maybe it was just a way of narrowing the field to the 3 most likely and then seeing if any one of them stood out. I think you can take him at his word ,in the sense that he was taking them into account, but the exact way he used them is a bit of a mystery to me.

The point about RSB is that we can do in seconds what it must have taken VDW many, many years of hard work to achieve. The win frequency of form figure combinations is one example. Its useful, not in an attempt to achieve 80% winners from a system, but hopefully to show areas where the field can be narrowed to the main contenders and also to show negative situations such as the well documented ones of first time out blinkers and 3yo fillies.
