I wonder how many people rushed out and bought the form books?

You are, of course, the Messiah, and nobody understands VDW the way you do, or is it all a myth, brought on by your vanity?
Let's examine the races that sent you apeshit about your knowledge this weekend! Unlike you, I am claiming nothing after the race that wasn't posted to a member of this thread well before racing. On Friday, I posted just 2 horses, both in the class B handicap, one the winner, and the other unplaced. On Saturday, I posted just 2 horses, 1st and 2nd in the class B handicap. I ignored the nursery. Today, I posted just 2 horses, both in the race that you claimed such a triumph. They finished 1st and 2nd. Did I post any losers during this period? Yes, one, on Sunday. Does this make me some Guru who knows more about racing than anybody else on this thread? Far from it! Do I assume some sort of omnipotence, and rush into print to inform everyone how clever I am? Once again? No, but there does come a time when it is necessary to call a halt to your bullshit. Why? Because I am not some sad, shallow person, who constantly seeks the approval of some names on a computer screen, but someone who genuinely seeks the truth about VDW, and understands enough about the mind not to let ego interfere with my quest. You now have another outlet for your stupid pride. Why not use it, and leave this thread for those with another purpose? One thing is certain, while ever you continue to post your self=congratulary and condescending edicts, this thread will always attract the derision you bring upon it. Either get a real life, or go away completely! |

You wrote about yourself: "... I am not some sad, shallow person ..." Just reflect quietly on what you were doing around 1.00am in the morning. |

Yes rab, page 22 was the one i meant to point out, it certainly makes you think if there is an easier route.
I bought the vdw library a little while back rab but i wont be buying any old form books myself not that i think its wrong its just not for me i would`nt have the patience or the endeavour to see it through the way others are doing so why start?. My dad always said if a jobs worth doing its worth doing right but im a lazy bugger by nature and will always look for an easier way IF there is one. Quote VDW taken from Systematic Betting: I have been indisposed for most of the 1989 flat season but, upon returning to the UK on september 28th, i evaluated the Ascot card for Saturday, september 30th, producing two horses which i considered good prospects. These were Zilzal in the Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes and Braashee for the Tote Festival Handicap, both of whom had given the classic tell-tale of improvement when raised in class. Zilzal was being dropped in class for his race and was far out in front of anything else class-wise, proving a virtual certainty and he won at evens.Braashee was in fact going up again in class but there was no other horse in the race bar Cossack Guard (beaten in his previous race by Braashee) who came close on a class basis. Braashee came home the winner, starting at 8/1. As they say"One man`s meat is another man`s poison" and perhaps the above does not enthuse although time in the form of speed figures may. could this be vdw telling us there is a fairly easy way? he`s just landed in the country after all looked at the cards on Thursday for the Saturday races and evaluates that there are 2 virtual certs on the day, what do you think?. |

Those two races are in the Post archive, in common with the other two that Mickeddy suggested be looked at the first thing to hit the eye is that there are no horses younger than the selection running.

Just a little further down the same page epi he goes on to say "First of all, let us consider a few points. It is not cheap to keep a horse in training and those better thought of do not get run into the ground as 3 yr olds".
Its certainly not cheap to keep a race horse in training nor is it cheap to make an entry in the better class races what interests me is that both animals went on to run in much higher class races again next time out and in Braashee`s case only a week later did vdw have this knowledge available to him prior to the Ascot race?. I find myself checking out future engagements more and more these days for one reason or another. |

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that someone with the details could say if the fact that there were no younger horses in the races was what decided the bets among the boxing day 6.

Here`s something of further interest letter 29 (tgy) Quote; Since Forum seems to be lacking in genuine winning ideas, may i offer the following loss-cutting methods.
Firstly, on a Thursday morning remove the `pull-out returns`sections and `Races to Come` sections and dispose the rest of the book to a waste paper disposal firm for recycling. R.Smith Morecombe. VDW might have timed his arrival to blighty for the Thursday edition of the handicap book/Update if the above is anything to by. |

Yes Walter, I think you may be right.VDW himself said that he bought the RHB for the races to come section and also that it allowed him to study well in advance. To be honest I've lost count of the times I've seen things like that and acknowleged them but passed them over , but your posts have just made me think about what he also said about a part fare only taking you part of the way and I think that's got to be applied to everything he wrote.
Thanks. |

Cheers Bream, i hope you noticed my mistake in that Braashee ran three weeks later not one. Rab picked me up on the page 22 mistake, not 23, and i was grateful to him for it.Once we all start to work together on here things might begin to happen, but i dont go in for these private forums.

Hi Walter,
I’ll have to hold my hands up and admit I hadn’t noticed the 3 week gap as I was just writing from memory last time without looking at the books.I’ve had a look tonight though and one of the things that struck me which I’ve noticed in some of the other examples is how some familiar names crop up sometimes in the formlines. All the best. |

Bream,
You might be onto something there do you have any recent examples to hand?.I remember reading an article in the Update some years back of how one of their regular contributors (Hotform) had come on with the methods and although nothing was spelled out as such (there`s a surprise) im sure the implication was that his progess was along the lines of which you speak. |

Sorry Walter I don't have any modern examples, I was just talking about some of VDW's examples, where some familiar names reappeared.I assumed that was because he was sticking to better class races but possibly there's a bit more to it.Last night I was thinking about Ile de Chypre.Although I read Sports forum for a few years I don't remember the Hotform post you mentioned. He has been mentioned on here before though with regard to him changing his opinion of the worth of the methods as far as I can remember.

Well 600 pages and this thread has now died a death I will now transfer it over to the Open Forum unless anyone wants to continue with it.

Gummy,
You have to be well and truely praised for the time you have spent running the whole Gummy website and long may it continue. As you will be aware the majority of my posts were on the VDW thread which was without doubt a brilliant thread with some of the most knowledgable racing brains I have come across. Some of the information, advice, comment, etc is very valuable and with the greatest respect may I suggest that going public with this particular thread wouldn`t be one of your better ideas. That said, I will respect your decision but I would ask you to re-consider. Cheers, |

Publish it Gummy. Determined is being miserable to the end. The idea of the whole board is to share and help one-an-other. Those sentiments clearly don`t sit comfortably here and never have. With very few exceptions this thread will be remembered by me at least as the natural home for a bunch of small minded small people who in the end drowned in their own bullshit.

you should note that "VDW" was already published on cd, or more accuratly - pinched by CD, who sold it - to other gullable but ambitious daydreamers. - as the Colin Davey System !! perhaps Gummy could offer to sell him him the tread as a "Comprehensive Update" ! ![]() tc |
