I was specifically refering to the fact that B was withdrawn.

I accept that he does perform a bit better with some ease in the ground but if the trainer had shown some bottle and placed him in my opinion he still would have won. he has performed fairly well with 10-00 on g/f on occasion.

why not be a trainer, you ovbiously know more than bangalores trainer, who thought the ground was against him, whats all this initials rubbish?,you said bangalore would have won after the race after he was withdrawn, this is a new one for you suprised you did not mention jardines lookout after the race, get a grip and say before the race, bangalore will win,i thought, and posted give notice would win,5-1 2nd,thats racing,

greg,

detori had ridden JL,GN and HA

that alone should been a reasonable though not definative guide.

further more i think that was gambling not racing

try looking why the winner won eh? thats racing.

even though its not clear.

it was very little to do with vdw though joint fifth on ability, and fourth on form.its or had gone up 1 though, or even 9 since its last win is that not enough to stop em for you?

Barney - In the 85 KG Burrough Hill Lad had one win from it's last 3 races, which was FTO class 44 at Chepstow with Wayward Lad 2 1/2 lengths back in 3rd (that one having already won the Charlie Hall class 95 at Wetherby before being forced into a UR class 89 4/6fav). BHL was beaten 20 lengths class 114 and 11 lengths class 125 in those other runs yet was 4/5 to win a class 248.

The ability ratings for all 5 runners were BHL (92) , Wayward Lad (70) , Combs Ditch (52) , Half Free (48) and Earls Brig (32).

One interesting point regarding the market was shown in todays Goodwood Cup. Take a look at the class race form for todays runners and note the markets. 20/1 shots who run unexpectedly well often make bad favs next time. Those who fell some way below expectations last time often wind up in the winners enclosure when less expected by the public next time.

Excellent point (amongst others) regarding accelleration - I remember sec coes coach saying excatly the same thing about seb's finish of the 800m - and he went past people as though they were standing still at the finish

Mimas.

I have been thinking about your question about BHL being out of form. Why do you think it had to be out of form? Was he not a Roushayd example? Were does it mention ability ratings, or c/form horses? Even if you where looking for a c/form horse, they are not taken at face value. BHL was an out and out stayer, 3 miles at Kempton would not be his best trip. Kempton is more a course for speed horses not stayers. Florida Pearl, and One Man have both proved that. I think you would be better of looking at BHL's race record. 15 wins out of 15 at distances OVER 3 miles, I am sure the papers of the time would have noted that somewhere. As for him being a short priced favourite? Maybe just another case of punters not thinking clearly, or believing the hype.

Barney.

Afraid you have lost me again. I can't see the point you are trying to make about Dettori. He may have ridden the other horses, but yesterday he rode for his retainer. Shouldn't think the option of riding anything else arose.

Be Lucky

Mtoto,
I think you must of read my post wrong I said

"I have been studying the Wayward lad example in depth and can see where VDW said they came in the order of there class ratings. But I CANNOT see how BHL was out of form"

This example is from the KG VI example given on page 25 of The Ultimate Wheil of Fotune VDW basically said BHL was not a class/form horse he was a class horse but therefore was not in form.

My post was to disagree with this in that I could not see why he was NOT a form horse.

I can see Guest's point of view that BHL was beaten 20 lengths in to 4th in a class 114 and 11 lengths into 3rd in a class 125 why should he be a hot fav in a class 248 race ???
But the race he did win OK only a class 44 but he beat WL into 3rd !!!!
OK WL had won the Charlie Hall memmorial wetherby Pattern chase class 104 but that was on firm going four races ago (todays was soft), and his recent form was nothing to write home about all on similar weights (except th 12-0 at haydock) and distances and various going conditions.
Cheers Mima

What on earth do you mean "I fully understand if you say no"?

If anyone says "no" they`ve missed the point of being a board member on GUMMYS racing. For christ sake just ask the question and try to retain a modicum of dignity.

This thread has more ar$e kissers and subservient grovellers than Gary Glitters fan club.

We`ve got Barney (No1 A/K) who`s sole objective is to impress Guest but confusing everyone else on the way and now the latest convert who`s recently performed the sharpest U turn on Gummys board.

If it wasn`t so pathetic it would be laughable and if nothing else slightly more entertaining.
