A pretty poor effort all in all John! Lipstick never got the trip, but that wasn't the only reason why she got beat, in hindsight of course, having gone back over the race afterwards.

Temperament let me down in that one.

I trust you noticed Victor Chandler's early price on True Night today, relative to the rest of the market.

1st class K to much weight
2nd class BR out of form
3rd class PS in form the likely winner even though never got the trip"even at ripon".LAST race the target?
4th class PW beutifully prepared after coming 2nd and 3rd in this race previously lumping 10 stone in a respectable performance"in comparison" and now upped in grade to carry 8-6.

hints of BL?

any comments?

Barney,
Easy mistake to make as he ran in 1984 and 1985 at Kempton on the 26th.
His 4th race at Wetherby was a good one class 95 with comments of "Jumped well waited with progress four out, led on landing last ran on strongly" was evens fav and had earls brig back in 3rd place.
His next race I guess you could ignore making mistake unseating rider.
His next race he ran "Held up headway three out hard ridden and no impression approaching last"
came 3rd at 7-4 carrying 11-8.
His next race again just beaten by EB he was carrying 11-6 EB 10-12lb.
I can see why he was pushed out in the odds as EB had beaten him in last run and all though BHL was the class horse who was beaten by West tip and Door Latch both to be respected. Cannot see BHL took a big downturn in form with Door latch and west tip though.
Cheers Mimas

2nd in this race 2 yrs ago carrying 9-02 off OR = 89. 11/2 jt 2nd fav`

2nd in this race last yr` carrying 8-12 off OR = 88. 11/2 fav`.

runs off 8-01 today, OR = 87.

this season in his 4 races he`s carried 9-02, 9-08, 9-10 and 10-00.

27 lbs less actual wgt` today after a 32 day absence ( will have been clearly trained for the race ).

Clever placement by the trainer although he wouldn`t have known the opposition until today.

If one could confidently rule out Kirovski ( I couldn`t ) then yes he was a very likely winner and for those who found him well done.

mimas,

just been to the top shelf for my form books and guess what? not got that one.

unfortunatly the summary you give answers virtually nothing in my mind and it just raises more questions.

determined,

i wish i had found that, i thought "K" when i first looked but knew the weight would stop him so didnt bother.ONly afterwards on rechecking was it so easy if a methodical approach was followed.

the similarity with sun bird and my failure to spot it even, is doing my head in.

I must be more thorough and allow myself more time to do a race.

still with no clear bets,"for me", i ended the day leval profit.

i know you will have had true night.WELL DONE.

i wish that had been the class horse because if they then lose "someone up there doesnt like you", as iv'e read somewhere.

I`d very much appreciate the ability ratings of the 5 horses from the 1985 King George.

I do not have the 82/3 or 83/4 annuals hence my request.

Burrough Hill Lad in race 1243 was trying to concede 32 lbs and 28 lbs to Door Latch and West Tip yet was only beaten 11 lghts. Looks one hell of an effort to me yet he was considered not in form.

Why ?

I`m going have to work it out.

DETERMINED

i have the two form books you mention but not the one with the race in question.

Would you be open to the idea of pooling resources and thought with others on that particular race?

I`ll be contacting John Pickering asap to hopefully obtain the 2 form books but it may be a while before I manage to get my hands on them.

Meantime, I`ll gladly provide what info` you need from the 84/85 form book. I`ll also share my thoughts on this race for what they are worth.

To start, in race 1243, the SGB Chase at Ascot, value £12502 BHL was set to carry 12-07 (3x). He was 11/4 jt 2nd fav` with Door Latch who had prev` finished 3rd in the Hennessy.

BHL finished 3rd btn` 11 lghts. Form book comments " lw, stdy hdwy 12th;mstke 16th, rdn 2 out, one pce "

The race was 8.6 sec`s slow.

Has Kirovski now proved he can carry weight ?

Trying to concede 19 lbs to PW and only just losing would suggest to me that he has ?

At 3/1 just before the off I thought he was value.

Yet a/n dent to my wallet.

Cheers,

I agree. We don`t want to let the experts see how much we don`t know !

determined,

the position proves nothing, we must carefully inspect the form and that of the winner. All that weight must have had some effect and its usually adverse when judged in comparison. Its still the same horse, its not grown wings, just its parameters have been defined a little more specifically. You did not know how he would respond. You gambled.

or peepers get any undeserved hints!

Hello Everyone,
I don't usually like to interfere in this forum but as it is now a massive 170 pages long I was thinking of making it a read only forum and starting another thread at the weekend entitled VDW1.
Would everyone be happy with that?

Chaz/Statajack/Barney.

I don't take any notice of weight, but I didn't back Kirovski today. Can't you see another BIG possible negative against him? I think it is so easy to blame weight all the time. This is not hindsight, it was mentioned in a e-mail first thing this morning.

Barney, apart from both BL and K running the race of their lives in the race before, what other similarities?

Fulham, I did notice the prices for True Night this morning. Thanks for the tip. I couldn't bring myself to back it mainly due to the draw.

Be Lucky

mtoto,

you will have to double check that, i never recieved the e-mail. Or am I not even on your prefared person mailshot list?LOL.

is that a rhetorical question? If not then a fav with a couple of negatives(not that its or had gone up 16 lb over the last two races)and a likely winner further down the forcast which had been placed to win pk style.
