    not g hall,
The drivel is not my own, (unfortunately), it belongs to Hugh Kingsmill in a tribute to A E Houseman.
However as the greatest living advocate of ARs CRs, aftertiming, dissimilation, missing links, 80%SRs etc etc has identified himself as Dr Alan Bacon PhD, (part time contributor to the world famous Institute of Contempry British History). I felt the tone of your posts was worth my straining at a gnat.
You now have me wondering if I have swallowed a camel.

Thats what I mean -

Realy, Realy - "Sad" -

You have spent 40 years F-ing around with Ice Cream Stalls etc and - now you have "Retired" - you don't have a clue as to what to do with your life !!

You talk about - going abroad for 4 or 5 months - On a Cruise Ship - No doubt !

Sad - Sad - Sad !

The "World" is a big place - and some of us have been having some "Real Fun" out there whilst you have been "Wasting your Life" !

Big Grin

I'm going to carry this on for a while but restricted to B and C handicaps not including 3 year old only races or any exhibition type affairs, I'll also be using a basic check of the selection's capabitity but still without any comparison between horses. Today there's one selection: Hills Of Gold in the 3:45 at Hamilton.

SE - hope this anwers your question -

at the moment these are simply daily lists of results (not ratings)

I will attempt to summarise/ analyze the results in a couple of days time. If anyone else wants to place his own interpretation on them, they are there to be played with !

quote:
Just to recap - I am looking at letter 8 only.

VDW suggests that

1. the first 5/6 in the betting forecast produce a high percentage of winners (86%)

2. consistent horses win a high percentage of races.

He suggests that - if we take the three most consistent horses from the 1st 5/6 in the forcast - then we will have a numerical picture which shows (subject to other considerations) -the good betting propositions.

He says that leaving out sellers and novice handicaps - the method often traps the winner in all races on the card !

so - when I say "not in the betting" - I mean that the Winner did not feature in the 1st 5/6 horses in the betting forcast.

a simple "L" means that the winner came from the 1st 5/6, but was not one of the 3 most consistent of those horses.

a "W" means that the VDW formula succeeded !

Letter 13 appears to argue that consistency qualifiers can lie outside the forcast 5/6 range - but just for now - lets just look at the first proposal - without complicating matters !

the last 3 form figures of the winning horse are shown after the race class eg, d 541-

If thats not clear - please feel free to ask again.

I wondered when you would once again grace us with your wit and charm.
I trust that Karen is well, though I confess that even after all these months I still havent been able to unravel (sic) which of your crossdressing or hermafrodite identities you would prefer us to use, and on which occasions. (Being a gentleman I prefer to reserve the rough stuff for my own sex. So any clues will be a good help.)

Like i said you haven't changed a bit,I was suprised to see you back posting after you threw your teddy out of the pram.but it would seem that tiubject must be closer to your heart than first thought,Afterall if i knew nothing about a subject i wouldn't bother posting,But you keep coming back for more.

i had an e.mailew months back from gary who used to be involved with raceman. He gave some information that took me away from vdw for a while, but that's irrelevent to this threadi had a bet last week that to my mind was worthy of a decent wager (from a vdw point of view ) and that was Mephisto. How's the betting been going for you.

I am sorry to hear you allowed yourself to be distracted from VDW, it must have been going through one of its frequent bad patches.
Still, after experimenting with doubling your stakes with Gary, you must now feel relieved to have returned to your fold where you can enjoy the support of your fellow aftertimers and will soon have moved into profit.
My own humble efforts have consisted of making lists of horses to follow for the season. Last years' NH one (callled Mice And Men Chasers) made about 20 pts at SP (over 80 on bf).
The current flat one (called The Donkey Register) is up about 20 pts at SP as well.
The odd thing from your point of view is that these selections were all clearly posted hours before the off.

by my calculations thats about £60(sixty pounds) up this year.

You should be able to get a new house built, replace the van and of course fill it will illicit fuel, stick up a few more bannana plants, decorate the living room and still have change to build a new beehive and fill it with bees, just think of all that lovely honey.
