My selection Azamour, 3rd at 6/1. As Blackcat rightly says, it probably wasn't a VDW selection, as it has never run on this soft ground before. I don't really think that's why it didn't win, though. The winner, Haafhd, surprised me and ran very well. HAAFHD, 3rd top OR , 122, had never won at this distance, but had won three times at Nmkt. One of those times ( in May) he had beaten Azamour to win a £174K race. Azamour was OR 118 today. |

Sean,
I am anxious to see how the OR pans out when you analyse the results of the 'VDW' races. |

well done, jib,in the long distance race, escayola is surely a horse to take out of that race, wouldnt have thought the hcapper would do anything, but will it get fast ground again this year?

Hi JIB,
Wow, you short-listed some nice winners! those you rejected , I did too - for similar reasons. What is interesting to me, and may well fit in with your overall thinking ( and maybe that of VDW?!?) is this re B.Hills in today's RP: " Hills can be counted on to have his string at its peak at this meeting." There's then a list of his winners. Later in the article, Hills himself says: " I've been looking forward to running Haafhd over a mile and a quarter and this victory has opened up new windows if SheikhHamdan decides to keep him in training." Now, I rejected H bc he'd never won at the distance. But wasn't it you who said (rightly) that "trainer's intention is very important". Here's proof in the Champions, and I have to agree with you. Not so keen on the standard VDW bit about " must be proven over the distance" though! --------- Btw, When I get about forty races done, I'll tally up and try see just how important OR may be. |

Hello everyone Humphreys back,
![]() After a nice six week break and fully refreshed what do i come back to, cold weather, three winners and a lot of postings, some of which i might add make excellent reading, some seem to know their stuff on here (not only vdw wise) and have to be applauded for trying to help others. Lets see if we can find another winner for today, Bond City looks the obvious choice for me, and i think i will stick with that one for today. Geez what a boo boo, iv'e made a mistake in the form with this one i aint backin this donkey, ![]() This message has been edited. Last edited by: not_g_hall, |

The VDW race, 400 Musselburgh, £12K, C1 hcp, 5f. Another tricky sprint. Not at all keen, as a punter. Whose turn is it today? Closely rated half dozen or more could easily win, imo. My short list: Corridor Creeper Pic up Sticks Ptarmigan Ridge Whitbarrow. Selection: CORRIDOR CREEPER. Personally, I'd be looking at a multiple bet involving dutching, with Ptarmigan being my subjective choice, EW. |

Yes I like Bond City too, Humphrey.
I rejected that race as a VDW qualifier bc it was for 2yo. Btw, you should enter BC as a selection over on the big underpants contest thread! Should be a winner, imo. Mind you, I rarely get things right at Musselburgh. |

Sean.
The 4.00 race is the joint best race on the card but there is nothing to be had in that race, from the way i see things. ![]() After the cock up with the Bond City race, it looks asthough we have to go to Milan in the 4.10 Shirocco, this race reminds me of the Pegwell Bay example in some respects. 17 October.
Results, VDW race. My selection came second, and one more from the shortlist came third. Not really good enough. Malapropism, a winner the day before, won this. M, 8/1, was one of the lower weights (83) but had won well yesterday and was CD at Muss. Trainer and jockey have a good strike rate together. My selection, Corridor Creeper was top weight, carried a stone more than the winner, and was top OR. 2nd at 5/1. CC was well ahead of M on money. Third was Whitbarrow, 20/1. OR 87. My personal preference came nowhere. On RPR, M was second top rated, 114. |

I didn't see any racing today, Humphrey, but was disappointed that Bond City wasn't in 1st place, when I checked the results.
What happened? I regret that Pegwell Bay doesn't mean much to me yet, as I haven't read the pamphlets. |

i can certainly see where your comig from with Comic Strip.I have wise dennis as the c/f in the race.I don't bet in a lot of 2yold races because that is where a majority of my losers have been in the past.Recent good ones have been satchem (which i backed) and on saturday Maids Causeway which i left.On a speed basis Comic Strip should piss this. But 2yolds are very unpredictable and i suppose that's why vdw left them until they were 3.I believe there is only one example of a 2yold race and that was To agori mou in the two thousand guineas.Anyway enough of my ramblings,And good luck. ![]() |

Hi Investor
I usually leave two year olds for the same reason. However, Comic Stip is a relatively experienced one having had several races - more in fact than some good three year olds. I also backed Satcham in the summer. He was one of my "incremental staking" thread selections on the RSUK systems board if I remember correctly. Thanks for your comments. No real reason really,Iv'e enjoyed that thread and have also enjoyed passing comment. There are a few on there that have got a gist of vdw as i see it (yourself included).I will give selections,i'not really bothered about the outcome of the tips. This has been my living (for the second time round) since last christmas. But my betting doesn't just involve vdw,Altugh a lot of my bets are based around the method. ![]() |

Didn't have time to post anything today, as I was taken to Wolverhampton races.
Just looking tonight at Pontefract, I note that winner, Comic Strip. was top OR in the most valuable race. At Wolver, it's amazing how many top weights ( often top OR) won today. Favourites also did well. My only winner was Albavilla. |

The VDW race: 325 Nottingham, £13K C1 hcp, 1m 2f. My VDW selection is ETMAAM, to beat Exterior and Dancing Lyra. The selection just scrapes in as 6th in the betting forecast! Exterior may well be a good fav, but I may even back my selection today (EW, of course). |

Hi Seanrua
You did ask for comment if you put a selection up. The horse does not seem to my mind to have shown recent form (006) and well beaten at that. Also off the track for 49 days. Although slightly up in class to his most recent run, not necessarily true that his rivals are classier tho'. But this isn't clear. (Exterior having a better AR, but from only one win). Etaam is top RPM & TS tho'. On a positive note, he is going over his best distance, where he has won twice and one 2nd. The trainer obviously thought he could do 1M4f and has now revised that opinion. Does not meet VDW selection criteria imo. But non-VDW selections win races too, so if you think it's a good bet, please don't let my ramblings stop ya.
