It just occured to me that the reason Determined and Mtoto dont want this thread in the public forum is that they would be embarassed by it. I think it should be published as a reminder that the punting world is full of bullshiters and fantasists.

You miss the point in one respect. It is not open to others to follow Epiglotis's lead. Whatever criticisms I might have about anyone else on this board, I do not believe they would act in that way. There are limits beyond which normal (using that word in a broad sense) human beings don't go.

But you raise a very relevant point: the effective use of time. After a period of general (and personal) inactivity on this thread, I made what I now see was a mistake in indulging myself with a response to Johnd, which has contributed to re-igniting this thread but in a wholly off-topic way. As a result of the mistake, I've wasted time in subsequent posts that could have been better spent on other things. Time to call a halt to that now, though should Nessie feel it's worth asking his question about staking again, I'll certainly answer it.

So, back to the start of this brief but frenzied episode and the question Gummy posed on what to do with the thread. If it was on paper I could help, it might have lasted me a lifetime. My vote goes to publishing on the open forum.

If you are /were getting 50% winners at decent prices using all your knowledge of VDW and someone came along and said:
"I HAVE IMPROVED THIS STRIKE RATE TO THE STRIVED FOR 80%, BUT, NOT WITH VDW WAYS, BUT BY ADDING NEW AND IMPORTANT RESEARCH THAT I HAVE GLEANED BY MANY HOURS OF COMPUTER RESEARCH AND STUDYING RESULTS"

You would not even give the man a chance to prove he was correct, because you are totally obsessed with this VDW "GOD".

You would not want it to be true because it is like blasphemy to the way you think.

Did you make a mistake when you included my name in that posting? I would have thought reading many of the posts on this thread that I do adapt VDW. I even have the temerity to think VDW is wrong about weight. Wrong, to use hurdle and chase wins when the horses has both. Wrong to use A/W and flat runs in the same way, if he did. I don't use penalty value to judge the class of a race. Not exactly worshiping a god. If this person could show me the logic in his figures I would think about it and use them if it made sense.

Why would this person that had spent many hours working on it, just come up to me a stranger and say here take my work? No one does that, do they?

I don't think anyone has said VDW is the only way to make racing pay. If they have I don't agree with them. I think the basics of VDW are a good way, you can't go far wrong if you have a horse with proven class and ability. Take it from there if you can come up with a better way of judging class and ability fair enough.

Can't speak for Fulham and the others, but Fulham has said he uses other methods of making money out of horse racing.

The evidence on this board points to Fulham being Alan Bacon. AlanB on the other board has the same philosophy of betting as Fulham, and the same style of writing.
Therefore, in my opinion, the balance of probability swings to Fulham, AlanB and Alan Bacon being one and the same person. Perhaps he will clear it up for us himself.

Trying to reply to your letter replying to the points I made.
Firstly if you or anyone else holds "THE KEY", why come to some forum and say so, just to show off without naming any winners? WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT?
If you really do hold the key, you dont come on a board saying so, but refuse to name it. What you do is go on round the world cruises with beautiful blondes etc and live life to the full.

OR if you have a desire to enjoy the boards and to name it, AND to share it, and get enjoyment from telling other people, WELL THEN YOU WOULD SAY SO. Yet again I must ask, CAN YOU GRASP THIS SIMPLE FUNDAMENTAL POINT?

Regarding low class races, THAT DONT PASS THE VDW FILTERS, WE ARE YET AGAIN STUCK WITH THIS PROBLEM THAT 25-1 WINNERS DO NOT COUNT IN e RACES BUT 1-1 WINNERS IN A RACES ARE OK.

Please get real Mtoto and realise that top class races are not the answer by a long chalk.
