Nobody knows it all, we are all novices, I am not certain that JIB is putting you away but its probable.
As a three year old Westmoreland Road ran six times, winning three times. Class ratings were progressively 46 over 1m 3furlongs, 88 over 1m 4 furlongs and 120 over 1m 4 furlongs. Raced also in class 46 at 1 mile and class 2400 at 1m six and a half furlongs. Note how he was out of the first three at the extended distance. True enough, he has factors in his favour, however we cant bet on that, VDW told us that the numbers game is to form a picture. The picture here is not too dissimilar to the second run of Roushayd in the respect of the trainers intentions. Perrett is no mug, she knows the time of day, her dad must have showed her, anyone remember him? If the Roushayd procedure is carried out for all runners, as VDW instructed, it soon becomes apparent that Barolo and Fight Your Corner have shown form at a higher level over the trip. Barolo is the c/f horse but with obvious negatives. In my view, Fight Your Corner is the most likely winner, but you have to take a lot on trust(Definitely not VDW), he did pretty much the same after his debut last year; Giving that consistent horse Gamut, the Longchamp horse Swing Wing and good old Persian Punch a cracking race. Westmoreland Road (lay of the day). |

I agree with Barney that Fight Your Corner would probably just be my bet over Westmoreland and Barolo.
Not my "race" (ha,ha,ha), so no bet for me today. I don't think any in it would be a VDW pick, either. The more expensive and even more difficult race on the card also lacks a "pure" VDW selection, I would say. In this 320 Salisbury, I'd make Silk Fan top candidate for VDW honours, but I don't think her recent form figures are good enough, are they? I'd say that, on paper, SF should beat Zietory, but, if I were to bet in the race, my selection would be Look Here's Carol, (definitely not a VDW selection, I know). |

You asked me a question the other day,To which i didn't really give you a reply.I would be happy back on this threa,And yes i would like bygones to be bygones.I don't lick anybody's arse have never have done,And i agree that Lee could come back if he so wished.I gave an opinion to a race the other day giving Telemacchus as the c/f horse with factors against therefore making the race dead from a vdw point of view,I named 5 other horses of which stretton was one.And then the shit hit the fan,I merely mentioned that the class that tretton had been running in compared to the rest in the race could have pointed people in it's direction that's all i said.T.c has just written a post about vdw NOW i gave what i thoughtwas a very good example of a horse that carried the charachteristics that are evident in a lot of vdw examples,To which i got the reply "The bloody race is over and done with".In order to understand vdw races have to be looked at,And that was all my intention was.I didn't back neither Stretton or Flame phoenix but still maintain that they are well worth looking at more in depth. ![]() |

Sals 4.20
I agree - this race is not one to be putting serious money on - still - fair doe's - credit to those who have put up selections - right or wrong - they will gain in respect for having done so - and - they will be well entitled to "Chew the Fat" after the race ! Personaly I cant see beyond Westmorland Road - on Form figures and on Ratings - it looks to stand out above the rest ! - Godolphin will have had to pull - One of there - "Rabbit out of the Hat " stunts to improve this horse after layoff ! One that caught my eye at a realy big price today - is in the 3.40 at Redcar - "Fair shake" - This finishe 3 lengths behind the winner in an 11k Hcp at York 2 weeks ago - and befor that 1/4l second in a similar value race at Nc - The booking of Kevin Darley who rides a lot of the yards winners - looks significant ! the horse is second from top in the Massey Ratings and has a similar "Max" figure to the fav ! it is proven at the dist - At 12/1 on betfair it looks like value ! |

Good luck with your bet.I would just like to put this to you The horse is outside the top 3 on the consistency ratings it is 0/4 on the ground and has won 1/13 at the trip. Not good credentials. To add to that,It isn't the highest valued race that is of course the 4.40. ![]() |

thanks investor - I certainly agree esp re the ground -
Thats the sort of post tho' - that I was saying that I would like to see - something to think about ! - relating to todays racing. The horse will get a small EW stake, and if it loses - I will suffer just enough financialy - to smack my self on the wrist and examine closely why it lost !! ![]() |

Afraid I would have to agree with Barney on this. Westmoreland Road has shown no signs of needing this distance, Barolo could have been found easier and more rewarding opportunities, whereas Fight Your Corner is running over probably his best distance without having to give a gp3 penalty away. Wouldn't be a bet, though. |

Fair comment,You made a point before about me reading systematic betting for maybe the 100th time.Maybe you should read The Golden Years again where he tells you which races should command interest.IT ISN'T A BETTING RACE.TEMPEREMENT my boy.The only horse in that race that comes anywhere near a vdw bet is the Ramsden horse. On the other hand it might be worth looking at Silk Fan and Zietory taking into consideration the figures in my last post.Good luck. ![]() |

Johnd,
have you though Barolo may have been placed here with an eye to the near future. A fit Fight Your Corner is a good yardstick. And at level weights, too good an opportunity to pass up? |
